Pitso Guided Al Ahly To Third Fifa Club World Cup Semi-finals

South Africa’s history making coach Pitso Mosimane continues to break barriers after leading Al Ahly to their third Fifa club World cup semifinals by beating hosts Al Duhail 0-1 in the quarter finals on Thursday night.

Hussein Elshahat’s superb solitary strike in the 30th-minute was enough for the Egyptian giants to book a date against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Fifa Club World Cup Semi-finals on Monday 8 February.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Mosimane will be hoping to upset Germany and European champions Bayern Munich to secure a place in the final of the Club World Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Al Ahly have previously reached the semifinals of the same competition in 2006 and 2012 and have appeared six times at the club World cup

Mosimane who once appeared at the club World cup in 2016 with Mamelodi Sundowns has not yet lost a game at the Red devils ever since he took over last year. He has helped them to a league title, Super Cup and the Caf Champions League title in a short space of time.

Bayern, who are currently seven points clear at the top of the German Bundesliga, are aiming for their 2nd club World cup title after winning it in 2013 at the hands of another African side, Raja Casablanca.

Meanwhile, in another semifinal match, South American champions Palmeiras will face Mexican giants Tigres.

The winner between the two will go on to face either Al Ahly or Bayern Munich in the final.
