We have reached another end of an exciting week of football where soca263 select best XI players who ‘raised the bar’ in the week that ended. Goalkeeper – Tatenda Mkuruva (Michigan Stars)
Ever since the former Warriors number one goalie moved to United States of America with Michigan Stars, he has grown into some legend at the club due to his influence in the team. His expertise and experience has won the hearts of so many at the club and was once again in good form as he guide his team to a 3-1 victory over Club de Lyon on Sunday. This is his 20th game so far this season, helping his club to 4th position with 36 points in the NISA (National Independent Soccer Association) log table .
Right-Back – Tendayi Darikwa (Apollon Limassol)
Darikwa’s football has improved significantly ever since he joined the Cypriot top division. He has been able to keep his consistency week in week out helping to turn Apollon Limassol into an invincible team that is still to lose a game after seven matches with four wins and three draws. The Zimbabwean defender put on another polished display keeping a clean sheet – his 3rd in a row as they registered a 4-0 win over Doxa in the league match on Sunday to maintain their top position on the log with 15 points from seven games.
Left-Back – Ocean Mushure (Kabwe Warriors)
The former Dynamos dead ball specialist is still grinding the finest in the Zambia Super league after an inspirational performance scoring a goal in the 90+ 1 minute to help his team win 2-0 over Konkola Bullets on Saturday. It is Mushure’s second goal for the club this season from the left-back position.
Center-Back – Ronald Pfumbidzai (Supersport united)
Ronald Pfumbidzai played well as a center-back with veteran defender Onismor Bhasera occupying the lef-back position as Supersport united registered a 2-1 win over Cape Town spurs on Saturday. This is the second time for Pfumbidzai appearing in the TOTW.
Center-Back Alec Mudimu (Olympique de Beja)
Alec Mudimu who became the only second Zimbabwean player to play in the Tunisia Premier league after Matthew Rusike who was once in the books of Club Africain came in the second half and helped to maintain a clean sheet in 1-0 win over EGSG on Sunday. Olympique de Beja are on top of the log with 12 points from five games.
Central Midfielder – Abubakar Moffat (El Palo)
The former Zimbabwe under-23 midfielder is improving tremendously ever since he moved to Spain from Aces Academy. Baka as he is known in the Spanish media has always been an influential figure in the midfield for El Palo and was at his best once again as he scored the only goal for his team to rescue a point in 1-1 draw vs CA Antoniano on Sunday.
Midfielder Jonah Fabisch – (Magdeburg)
Jonah Fabisch is currently enjoying his football at Magdeburg II side scoring four goals and two assists in eight matches. He has also been featured in the senior team match day squad due to his good performances. The Warriors midfielder was in his usual form as he played full game to help his team register maximum points with a 2-0 win away to Union Sandersdorf on Saturday.
Attacking Midfielder – Tawanda Chirewa (Wolves)
Chirewa has quickly established himself at Wolves under-21st side as he seamlessly fitted in the team like he has been there for long. He opened the scores in the first 25 minutes of the game as Wolves reserve side went on to win 2-0 against Leeds united on Monday. That’s Chirewa’s first goal in old gold.
Forward – Trey Nyoni (Liverpool)
Trey Nyoni has hit the ground running at Liverpool and everyone at the club is excited about his potential. The 16-year-old talented youngster scored a spectacular goal in Liverpool under-18s’ 7-0 over Sunderland on Saturday. Nyoni has now scored eight goals in Liverpool shirt so far.
Forward – Lee Ndlovu (Boreham Wood)
Zimbabwe-born and England raised forward Lindokhuhle Ndlovu has been making waves in the national league for some time now. The former Brackley F. C forceful striker who has committed to play for Zimbabwe at international level scored his fourth goal of the season in 12 starts for Boreham Wood as they beat Hartlepool 1-0 in the national league match.
Striker- Shumaira Mheuka (Chelsea)
Shim Mheuka is no doubt one for the future, his pace body posture and sharpness in front of goal brings little memories of Chelsea legendary striker Didier Drogba. The youngster who is born in the UK to Zimbabwean parents was on target as his team won 3-1 against his former side Brighton Hove on Sunday in the league encounter to take his tally to four goals in seven matches. He has also been called to represent England U17s in their upcoming internationals but is still eligible to play for Zimbabwe at senior level.
Substitutes: Terrence Dzvukamanja – Supersport United (for coming in as a substitute to give an assist to Bradley Grobler’s goal against Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday.), Jordan Zemura – Udanese (came in as a substitute to maintain the clean sheet as Udanese draw nil all against Empoli), Onismor Bhasera – Supersport united (Played full game as Supersport beat Cape Town Spurs 2-1 in the Dstv premiership.
