WARRIORS DEPART FOR CAMEROON

Zimbabwe Warriors squad has finally departed for Cameroon via Ethiopia to represent the country at the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) Finals starting from 16th of January to 7th February 2021

The Warriors whose preparations were disturbed after 15 members of their team including 9 players and coach Zdravko Logarusic tested positive for Covid-19 in December, departed yesterday aboard Kenyan Airways.

All 15 -members have since returned negative results except for Tawanda Nyamandwe who has been replaced by Thomas Chideu after failing to recover in time for departure.

The Team arrived in Addis Ababa last night and are scheduled to connect to Yaounde, Cameroon this morning, and expected to arrive around 11am.

Zimbabwe will open the tournament with a date against the host Cameroon on the 16th of January before taking on Burkina Faso on the 20th of January.

They will round off their group matches against Mali on the 24th of the same month.

Chicken Inn defender Ian Nekati is expected to lead the Warriors in Cameroon having been selected as captain of the team due to his recent experience from the previous Africa Cup of Nations where he was the only local based player in the squad.

He will be deputised by Dynamos and former Warriors defender Partson Jaure.

Confirmation of the final 23-players that traveled to Cameroon.
