ALGERIAN STAR FORWARD JOINS KADEWERE AT LYON

Algeria’s Desert Foxes star forward Islam Slimani has joined Tinotenda Kadewere at French Ligue1 giants Lyon from English Premier League side Leicester City on a 18 month deal.

The 32-year-old Slimani joined in to replace Moussa Dembele who completed a shock loan move to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Slimani has been struggling to nail a first team position at Leicester City ever since he arrived in 2016 from Sporting Lisbon.

The Algerian forward has been loaned away from Leicester City three times before, after brief stints at Newcastle United , Fenerbahce and Monaco.

He made his international debut in 2012 and represented Algeria at Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 , 2015 and 2017.

He was also part of the Desert Foxes side that won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

Slimani has 69 international caps for Algeria and has scored 29 goals, making him the country ‘s second highest all-time goalscorer after Abdelhafid Tasfaout who has 36 goals in 87 caps.

He joined another Algerian international at Lyon in veteran defender, Djamel Benlamri.
