DARIKWA SEEKS TO REIGNITE HIS CLUB CAREER AFTER JOINING WIGAN

Zimbabwe Warrior’s ‘minister of defence’ Tendayi Darikwa Is hoping to get his club career back on track after joining English League one side, Wigan Athletics on a short term deal.

The 29-year-old overlapping right-back joins Wigan until the end of the season after a spell with Nottingham Forest in the English Championship League, where he played over 50 league games.

Darikwa spent the majority of the 2019-20 season on the side-lines due to injury and has been struggling to get game time ever since his recovery.

The Zimbabwe international was yet to feature for Forest this term, but played twice for Zimbabwe Warriors in the Africa Cup of Nations campaign and has maintained fitness with Forest’s Under 23 side.

With over 200 games to his career, Darikwa is determined to get his club football back on track at Wigan.

“I’m delighted, it’s happened quite quickly,” Darikwa told the club’s TV.

“I’m a Wigan Athletic player and I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve not played too much football in the last 18 months after a bad injury. But I’m fit again and I can’t wait to get on the pitch and start playing competitive games again,” said Darikwa.
