MUDIMU MOVES TO TURKEY
Zimbabwe Warriors defender Alec Mudimu continue to make huge leaps in his football career after signing for Turkish 2nd tier side Ankaraspor from Moldova side Sheriff Tiraspor.
The 25-year-old defender who can also play as a midfielder signed an undisclosed contract with the Turkish side after a season long in the Moldova league.
Mudimu, who was born in Harare before relocating to England at the age of six, began his youth football with Sheffield Wednesday before slipping into the lower ranks of the English non-league with Northwich Victoria and Stalybridge Celtic.
He moved to Welsh top flight side Cfn Druids in July 2017 until he left to join Moldova giants Sheriff Tiraspor in January 2020 with recommendation from former Dynamos and Warriors defender Chamunoda Musanhu.
His latest move to Ankaraspor who competes in the Turkish football federation (TFF) First division, the second tier in the Turkish football system, is a big leap in Mudimu’s career considering he was playing in the English 10th tier barely 3-years ago.
Ankaraspor is a big team which once competed in the Turkish Superlig before expelled from all football divisions by (TFF) on 4 August 2010 after being sued by the federation for objecting to forced relegation in 2009–10.
In the 2013–14 season, they were readmitted to First Division. In the 2014–15 season, they were champions of the division, resulting in their promotion to the Süper Lig, but the team was relegated again to First Division after 2017-18 season.
They are currently on position 17 on the log with 9 points from 17 games.
