WARRIORS RESUME TRAINING AFTER COVID19 SCARE

Zimbabwe Warriors have began training today after handed a life-line with the successful recovery of 15 members of their team who initially tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the CHAN tournament beginning on the 16th of January in Cameroon.

Zifa confirmed in a statement that only one player returned with a positive result, but training has already begun awaiting final round of tests to be done before the team’s departure on the 14th of January.

The Team trained together on Sunday for the first time after recovering from the virus. They last conducted group training last year in December before Christmas break.

Warriors Manager Wellington Mpandare admitted the virus affected the team both mentally and physically.

“It (virus) disturbed their training schedule so it is not easy, but the team is copying well,” he said, after the Warriors first training on Sunday.

The Squad is scheduled for re-testing on the 12th of January before they depart for Cameroon.

Zimbabwe are in group A with host Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Mali. They are scheduled to face the indomitable Lions in the tournament opener on the 16th of January.
