Maswanhise Impresses On Debut After Thrown Straight Into Squad
Former Leicester City youngster Tawanda Maswanhise impressed on his debut for Scottish side Motherwell F.C moments after completing a six months deal with an option to renew on Sunday.
The 21-year-old who has been on a two weeks trial period at the club was thrown straight into the squad for a Premier Sports cup last 16 encounter against Kilmarnock and did not disappoint after introduced in the 58th minutes.
The lively Maswanhise who offered pace and direct attacking play teased the Kilmarnock defence in the extra time of the game before whipping a ball towards the six yard box which Moses Ebiye met with a deft header to direct it into the net to finally make the breakthrough and register a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock and advance to the quarterfinals of the FA cup.
Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell is excited about Masvanhise and is confident there’s more to come from the Zimbabwean.
“We have been impressed with his endeavour every time he has taken to the training pitch. He took part in the bounce match against Everton last week and once again, he looked good.
“He offers something a bit different for us. He’s quick, direct and likes to find the back of the net. There’s lots of potential with Tawanda and hopefully we can get the best out of him.”
Meanwhile Maswanhise who can play as a central striker or as a winger said he is buzzing to be where he is and just want to showcase his talent.
“This summer has been about hard work and getting my head down. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to show people what I can do and now I’ve got one.
“I feel good and feel ready to make an impact, ” said Maswanhise.
The youngster has been capped three times already by Zimbabwe Warriors.
