Will Prince Dube Reach Azam Heights At Yanga?
The former Zimbabwe Warriors forward Prince Dube has hit the ground running at Young Africans where the forward has scored three times already in his four games at the club.
The 27-year-old center forward who left Azam last month and crossed the floor to join rivals Young Africans is in blistering form having scored his latest goal in Saturday’s 4-0 win against Vital’O of Burundi in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions league.
Dube first scored his debut goal for Yanga in the preseason encounter in 0-4 win against Kaizer Chiefs before opening his first official goal against his former side Azam as they thrash them 4-1 to lift the Community Shield cup- his first silverware with the club in just a short space of time.
His latest form is reminiscent of the displays he showed during his initial season at Azam 2020/21 season, where he went on to finish with 14 goals in the league. Just two goals behind the league’s top goal scorer John Bocco of Simba SC despite being sidelined for a handful of games due to injury.
Although he failed to replicate his initial form in the seasons that followed mainly due to Injuries, the former Bosso forward managed to score 34 goals in 54 matches at Azam during his four seasons at the club.
The question now is – will he manage to reach the same levels at Yanga now that he seem to have regained his confidence in front of goal?
Considering Young Africans have a greater stage this season than rivals Azam and a lot of quality players surrounding Dube to support the forward in his quest for goals, the Zimbabwean, if he manages to stay away from injuries he has a more favorable environment at Yanga to reach his best levels and reproduce or surpass the form he enjoyed in his first season at Azam.
Dube, if he continues with his latest form could also in no time reclaim his position in the national team where he has been overlooked due to slump in form.
