Chiwome Making His Mark In English Junior Football
British-born Zimbabwe rising striker Leon Chiwome continues to make waves in the English Junior football as he can’t stop scoring at both domestic and international level.
The 17-year-old Wolvermpton Wanderers under-18 star scored a hattrick as Wolves swept beat Leeds U18s 5-2 in their final home game of the season on Monday.
Chiwome notched his first goal of the match in the twentieth minutes after rounding off the defence to slot home from a close range as the Young Wolves restore the lead after a 2-all draw in the eighteenth minutes.
The Zimbabwe Warriors prospective striker who in February was rewarded with a professional contract at Wolves, scored his second goal in the 42nd minutes from a penalty after he was brought down in the box to take the lead again before completing his hattrick in the 48th minutes.
Despite the double injury set back, Chiwome has now scored five goals in nine league matches and has had the opportunity to train with the first team as well.
Earlier in April the former AFC Wimbledon academy star emerged as the top goal scorer from an U17s tournament in Italy where he won the award after bagging four goals in the tournament beating Atalanta, Borgona and Juventus along the way as the Young Wolves finish in the semi-finals.
At international level Chiwome who was named among Guardian’s most promising premier league youngsters for 2022 scored three goals for England U17s in a 6-0 win friendly match against Germany in January.
The teenager will be expecting to get more goals to his name as the Young Wolves prepare for their final league match against Middlesborough on Saturday 29th of April.
They are 10th on the log with 26 points from 23 games.
Chiwome is also eligible to play for Zimbabwe having born in England from a British mother and a Zimbabwean father.
