Karuru Scored On His Debut In Asia

Zimbabwe’s nomadic attacking midfieder Ovidy Karuru made an instant impact for his new club Al-Shoulla FC after scoring on his debut in their 2-1 victory on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old who joined the Saudi Arabian second division side at the end of January, scored in the 23rd minute to stage an early come-back after going a goal down in the 18th minute of the game to register a 2-1 victory away to Najran

Karuru has previously played in France and Belgium before moving to South Africa where he has featured for Kaizer Chiefs, Amazulu, Stellenbosch FC and Black Leopards.

The former Masvingo United star has been without a club since leaving relegated side Black Leopards in July 2021, costing him a place in the Warriors squad that took part at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Al-Shoulla are on position thirteen on the 19-team log table with 28 points from 23 games.
