Newcastle Boss Hints At First Team Promotion For Zim Youngster

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has revealed he might add Zimbabwe teenage star Michael Ndiweni to boost his squad after failing to secure a forward in the last day of the transfer window.

According to Ciaran Kelly, Newcastle United writer, ‘The Magpies attempted to sign Hugo Ekitike and Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window but Eddie Howe has since taken a look at youngster Michael Ndiweni who has been lethal for the U18s.

The 18- year-old attacking midfieder has been involved in first team training since the arrival of Eddie Howe in November and is tipped for first team promotion to boost the attack in place of the injured Cullum Wilson.

Ndiweni has been in impressive form bagging 12 goals in 13 games for Newcastle U18s

The talented teenager also ended 2020/21 season with five goals and an assist in his last four games for the U18s, meaning he has 17 goals in his last 17 games.

He is among UK’s best young talent to look forward to after named in The Guardian’s top 20 upcoming youngsters.

Ndiweni was born in England to Zimbabwean parents, making him eligible for both Zimbabwe and England at international level.
