Mutatu Impresses In LA Galaxy Pre-season Debut

Farai Mutatu made a good impression on his first match for LA Galaxy after scoring in the team’s first Pre-season match against Toronto FC as they won 5-4 on Saturday.

Mutatu (22) who was included in LA Galaxy first team pre-season training at Dignity Health Sports Park along side other three players from the development squad, sealed the win after goals from Efrain Alvarez, Chacharito Hernandez, Kevin Cabral and Samuel Grandsir to complete a 5-4 win in the team’s first pre-season match ahead of the opening of the 2022 Major League Soccer season at the end of February.

The highly rated Zimbabwe under-23 forward could be LA Galaxy’s ‘surprise package’ in the upcoming season if the former Michigan University star keeps on impressing in the pre-season training.

The Galaxy will square off next against the New England Revolution on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

They will then travel to Indio, California, to play matches against Seattle Sounders FC (Thursday, Feb.10) and New York Red Bulls (Sunday, Feb. 13) as part of the closed door Coachella Valley Invitational.

The team will then return to Carson to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC in a closed-door scrimmage on Wednesday, Feb. 16 before closing out preseason preparations as the team hosts D.C. United on Saturday, Feb. 19 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The LA Galaxy will kick off the 2022 MLS Regular Season on Sunday, Feb. 27 when the club hosts 2021 MLS Cup Champions New York City FC at Dignity Health Sports Park.
