Zemura Confident Of Carrying Warriors’ Dreams At AFCON
Zimbabwe Warriors’ boy with the thorn in his side, AFC Bournemouth star Jordan Zemura believes the Warriors are capable of making history and go beyond the group stages ahead of their second group match against Malawi on Friday 14th January.
The 22-year-old who arrived in Bana yesterday to join the Warriors after missing the Senegal encounter due to the coronavirus, said they have no other choice but to win against Malawi.
“This is a match we should win at all costs. It feels like it will be a final given the destiny of both teams relies mainly on the outcome of this game,” said Zemura speaking to The Herald.
“Malawi lost their first match and we also lost. They want to recover we also want to recover. That’s interesting but we need to be the ones smiling at the end of the day.
Zemura was hurt to miss the Senegal encounter after testing positive of the coronavirus and had to isolate for more than seven days before recovering forcing him out of Zimbabwe’s opener against Senegal.
“This is a tournament I had always told myself I would play and just before my departure this happens,” said Zemura
“It was painful to say the least. I really wanted to be part of the fun and missing the game against Senegal was so hurting,” he said
However, Zemura heaped praises to the team’s incridible fight against Senegal, though they lost 1-0 in the last minutes of the game through a penalty.
But, look, the boys did an unbelievable job in that match. I have watched it again and again with pride. They were toe to toe with that team and it was incredible.”
Despite having taking a five-hour road trip from Yaounde to Warriors’ base in Bana, the talented left-back who can also play in the midfield, took part in his first training with the rest of the squad and is in line for selection against Malawi.
