Mutatu Is Headed To MLS Side LA Galaxy!
Big news for former Michigan State University and Zimbabwe Warriors under-23 winger Farai Mutatu who has been drafted into Major League Soccer (MLS ) side LA Galaxy after the 2022 MLS adidas SuperDraft held on Tuesday night
The 23-year-old attacking winger who was among the 44 selected collegiate soccer players that took part in the MLS soccer showcase from December 10-14, was selected by LA Galaxy with an overall 21st pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft held on Tuesday night.
The Zimbabwean born has had a fantastic season in the Big Ten Conference league where he was one of the only five players in the team to feature in all 17 league matches for Spartans scoring seven goals as the team finish fifth in the league.
Prior to his selection, the highly – rated Mutatu was among the final 28 players in round one who were all selected into different MLS clubs ahead of the start of the season in February.
LA Galaxy are one of the most successful and popular teams in the MLS history with a record of five MLS Cups and reached the finals more than four times.
The club has fielded other high-profile international players including Zlatan Ibrahimović, Robbie Keane, Luis Hernández, Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, Jorge Campos, Steven Gerard , Ashley Cole, Javier Hernández, and American Landon Donovan, who is the all-time leading scorer for the club.
Jane and Washington Mutatu the parents of Farai who were presented with the rare opportunity of announcing their son’s selection to LA Galaxy on behalf of the team, expressed happiness for their son and hopes to see him in the Warriors national team.
