Zemura Arriving Tonight, Update On Musona & Benyu Injuries

Zimbabwe Warriors have received a big boost ahead of their second group B match against Malawi on the 14th of January at Kauokong stadium after the announcement of Zemura’s availability.

The 22-year-old Bournemout rising star who is slowly becoming a household name in the Warriors squad after his outstanding performances in the four games that he has represented the national team so far- is expected to arrive tonight.

Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare confirmed the news to soca263.

“Yes, Zemura is on his way already and he is expected to arrive in Cameroon tonight, said Mpandare.

Zemura has been in self-Isolation in the UK since the coronavirus broke out at his club two weeks ago forcing him to miss Zimbabwe Warriors’ first match against Senegal on Monday – where they agonizingly came close to book their first point in the opening match of the group stages of the competition – something they have never done in all their previous appearances, had it not been for that last minute penalty.

However, Zemura is excited to finally joining the team as he confirmed on a twit in reply to ZIFA’s announcement of his arrival.

“I can’t wait to join the boys, and represent my Zimbabwe. Two important games to get out the group everything is possible,” Zemura said.

His arrival is a big boost to the Warriors squad who now need to win the remainder two games against Malawi and Senegal to keep their hopes of progressing beyond the group stages.

Meanwhile, Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare also gave an update on skipper Knowledge Musona and Iceland-based winger Kundai Benyu who were stretchered off the pitch against Senegal after suffering some knocks in the game.

“Knowledge Musona looks good and will be available for Malawi. Only Kundai Benyu is a worry,” said Mpandare.

The 24-year-old who was thrust in a five man midfield in Mapeza’s 3-5-2 Formation against Senegal had an outstanding performance before he was substituted for Thabani Kamusoko in the 71st minutes.

Musona followed in the 88th minutes stretchered off for Azam’s Never Tigere.
