Zimbabwe Under 23 and Michigan State University forward Farai Mutatu is one of the 44 selected collegiate soccer players to participate in the Major League soccer showcase to take place in North Carolina from December 10-12.

The 22-year-old highly-rated forward is the only player from Michigan State Spartans to be selected among the top 44 college soccer players in the country for the big soccer showcase which will be attended by all Major League Soccer teams for an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation.

According to Michigan State University website, Head Coach Damon Lansing who was also selected to attend the soccer showcase as an instructor, said he is very proud of Mutatu’s development.

“I am really proud of Farai and equally excited for him and this opportunity,” said Lansing (MSU Head Coach)

“Farai has put a lot of work into his goal of becoming a professional soccer player. He has made sacrifices in everything he does with this goal in mind. The MLS combine is the next step in this journey. What is amazing about Farai is that he did this being the ultimate teammate and leader. Good luck Farai!”

The Zimbabwean born has had a fantastic season in the Big Ten Conference league where he was one of the only five players in the team to feature in all 17 league matches for Spartans scoring seven goals as the team finish fifth in the league.

He was also honored with Big Ten end of season accolades after finishing the league as third top goal scorer and was rated as the league’s 5th best player for the season.
