Zemura Confident Of Warriors Win
In-Form Zimbabwe Warriors and AFC Bournemouth utility player Jordan Zemura is convinced the Warriors will come out victors in the back to back World cup qualifiers group encounter against Ghana.
After being held to a goalless draw against Bafana Bafana and losing away to Ethiopia in September, the Warriors will face Ghana at Gold Coast stadium on Saturday before finishing their double header in Harare on the 12th of October knowing their hopes of qualifying to the World cup will be hanging by a thread unless they secure six points from both encounters.
Against former African Champions who are currently ranked 7th on the continent, it is not going to be a walk in the park for Norman Mapeza’s side – and Zemura is adamant there is no need to fear.
“It looks like a gigantic task but that motivates more,” said Zemura in a Herald report.
“Playing back to back matches against such a big name or team like Ghana cannot be an easy task at all, but football has changed and we are looking forward to a very good outing in Ghana before we can talk of the home game three days later.
“They have very good players in their team, but when you also look at ours you see quality and depth.
We have to go out there play positive football, throw everything and get a result.
We are at a point where we have to win each game no matter how hard it looks starting from this one on Saturday.
We have to play for each other, put in that extra and we will get that result we are looking for,” said Zemura.
The 21-year-old overlapping left-back who missed the first two World cup qualifiers in September due to UK’s Covid-19 quarantine rule requirements has been in amazing form for AFC Bournemouth ever since he made his breakthrough to the senior team at the beginning of the season, starting in all 11 league matches and has two goals from the left back position.
He is now eligible for both matches against Ghana after getting fully vaccinated as per UK’s latest Covid-19 rule requirements for ‘red listed’ countries.
Bournemouth are currently top of the English Championship League log table with 25 points from eleven games and a three point cushion gape from second placed West Bromwich in the race to English Premier League promotion.
They’re yet to lose a game in the Championship after registering seven wins plus four draws so far this season.
Zimbabwe sit at the bottom of Group G log table with a single point, three behind log leaders South Africa who are on four points.
