Pitso Lauds Tembo After Reaching 100th Game Milestone At Supersport United

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane praised Zimbabwe international and Supersport United head coach Kaitano Tembo after he reached 100th game milestone with the team against Cape Town City on Saturday.

The 56-year-old two time CAF Champions league winner – Mosimane, congratulated Tembo on his huge milestone and lauds the Zimbabwean gaffer’s humble character.

“Congrats Kait, after (you’ve’) been given, an opportunity as Head Coach, you never disappointed,” said Mosimane via his twitter handle @TheRealPitso.

“Amazing that you have quietly collected so many games and a trophy under your belt without seeking any media validation, Up and coming Coach, please learn from him,” tweeted Pitso.

Tembo (50) took over the reigns at Supersport United from Eric Tinkler in January 2018 and subsequently appointed permanent head coach in August of the same year.

He is in his third season in charge of SuperSport and has already established himself by winning the MTN8 in his second season in 2019 after losing in the final the previous year.

From His 100 games in charge, coach Tembo has won 43 games drawn 27 and yesterday’s 3-0 loss away to Cape Town City was his 30th loss at the helm of ‘Mantsantsantsa Apitoli’.

Ironically, Tembo lost his first premier league match 2-0 away to same Rivals- Cape Town City on August 4, 2018.

The former hard tackling defender worked his way up the ranks to become head coach having started as a player and was once coached by Pitso Mosimane at Supersport United some two decades ago.

He has been previously a caretaker coach at the club in 12 matches and assistant coach to more than five coaches including Gavin Hunt and Eric Tinkler.

Tembo is the second Zimbabwean to coach Supersport United after Bruce Grobbelar who head ‘Mantsantsantsa’ from 1999- 2001.
