Jonah Fabisch Could Be Available For The Upcoming Afcon Qualifyers
Bundesliga II side Hamburger SV midfielder Jonah Fabisch could finally make his long waited Zimbabwe Warriors debut after the technical team showed interest in including the highly rated teenage star in the upcoming crucial Afcon qualifyers against Botswana and Zambia next month.
The 19-year-old who was born in Kenya to former Warriors Coach Reinhard Fabisch and Zimbabwe former top athlete Chawada Kachidza-Fabisch, has already declared to play for the Zimbabwe Warriors.
The Humburger SV defensive midfielder was initially picked for the Warriors’ 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia in November last year but couldn’t make it with his mother writing to ZIFA saying he needed to concentrate on club football.
He has since earned himself a place in the SV Humburger first team after an impressive training camp in Portugal from 12th to 19th January 2021.
He has become a regular in the Humburger SV II squad, featuring in all 10 league matches and has been registered with the first team for the 2020/21 season.
Warriors Manager Wellington Mpandare has hinted plans by the technical team to include the former Humburger SV under 19 captain in the two crucial matches against Botswana and Zambia next month.
“Yes, the coaches have been monitoring his progress and are seriously considering to include him for the upcoming (Afcon qualifyer) games,” said Mpandare.
Zifa has confirmed to have already send invitations to players expected to do duty for the Warriors in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, with the provisional squad set to be announced soon.
The Warriors are second in the qualifiers’ Group H with five points from four games and will be away to third-placed Botswana in the first match on March 22.
They will finish off their group matches with a date against Zambia at the National Sports Stadium On 30 March 2021.
