Morocco Crowned CHAN Champions For The Second Time In A Row

Morocco became the first nation to claim a back to back African Nations Championship (CHAN) title with a hard fought 2-0 victory over Mali on Sundayโ€™s final at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde Cameroon.

Two second-half headers by Abdelmouna Boutouil and CHAN all time top goal scorer Ayoub El Kaabi who took his tally to 12 goals, sealed the victory for the Atlas Lions to lift the CHAN 2020 title in a tightly contested encounter.

Morocco managed to successfully defend the title they previously won three years ago at the hands of African football powerhouse Nigeria, beating them 4-0 to lift the 2018 CHAN title in Casablanca.

Morocco’s Soufiane Rahimi who pulled off some stunning performances throughout the competition was a big winner as he was voted man of the competition and the tournament’s top goal scorer with five goals.

Goalkeeper Anas Rahimi claimed man of the match award and was also voted goalkeeper of the tournament.

Guinea finished third at the competition after defeating hosts Cameroon 2-0 in the third place play off played on Saturday
