Warriors Shifts Focus To Burkina Faso

Following a 0-1 Loss To host Cameroon in the Africa Nations Championship group A opener on Saturday, Zimbabwe Warriors head coach Zdravko Logarusic was quick to shift his focus to the next game against Burkina Faso on Wednesday.

The Warriors put on a gallant fight against Cameroon and could have came out with a draw had it not been for some few errors.

But the Croat has told his players to forget about the loss and shift focus on their next group A encounter against Burkina Faso who are also looking for a first win after a 1-0 loss to Mali in their opening match

“The team played well, but our lack of preparation was showing. I salute the boys for their gallantry but we don’t have enough time to look in the past. We need to quickly move on since this is a tournament with games coming in quick succession,” said Logarusic speaking to The Herald.

“We could have easily picked a draw but we still have our own destiny firmly in our hands. We have to play and win then advance to the next stage.

“So at the moment, our full focus is on our next match against Burkina Faso.

“We know they lost in their opening match against Mali but they are not bad and they will, like us, try and redeem themselves in this match.”

The Warriors will take on Burkina Faso on Wednesday knowing that a lose or draw might mean end of their campaign at the tournament.

The top two teams of each group advance to the quarter-finals.
