Mparaganda Clinched Netherlands U17 Title With Feynoord

ZIMBABWEAN teenage sensation Matthew Mparaganda has lifted the Dutch Under 17 national title with Feynoord after beating PSV Eindhoven in penalty shoot out on Tuesday June 4th.

Feyenoord Under 17 who won the championship in the fall competition and PSV who were crowned champions in the spring competition squared off in the final for the overall national championship title.

Mparaganda (16) who was born in the Netherlands to Zimbabwean parents, came in as a second-half substitute as Feynoord U17s drew 2-2 against PSV in the normal time before winning the title on penalties.

The highly-rated youngster can play left-back and also as a midfielder and was instrumental in the final as he also converted his penalty to help Feynoord win the title on 4-3 penalties.

The teenage star started his football career at amateur club VVIJ from IJsselstein. Mparaganda then transferred to Feyenoord Academy through the youth academy of FC Utrecht in the summer of 2018. Last season he excelled with Feyenoord Under 16, under the watchful eyes of Brian Pinas and Robin van Persie.

The talented left footer signed his first professional contract with the club last season and will be at the club until 2026.

Mparaganda is also an integral part of the Dutch national teams having represented the country in Under 15s and 16s level.
