Benjani Junior Impresses As Yeoville Town Progress In The Somerset Premier Cup
Benjani Mwaruwari junior was in impressive form as he helped a youthful Yeoville Town side win 7-8 on penalties and progress to the second round of the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup after a 3-3 draw in the normal time against Keynsham Town on Tuesday night.
The 18-year-old son to former Manchester City and Zimbabwe Warriors forward Benjani Mwaruwari scored a beautiful curling free-kick to put Yeoville Town 2-3 ahead in the 63rd minutes before Keynsham Town equalized in the 84th minute of the game to force the match into penalty shoot out.
Benjani Junior took the first penalty and calmly converted as Yeoville Town finally dispatched the host 7-8 on penalties after a thrilling encounter.
The Undertaker junior made a big step up from the team’s academy to join the senior team after impressing in the juniors team where he has been scoring regularly for the u18s.
The former Portsmouth academy player has been on loan stincts at Sherborne and Dorchester as part of his first team experience before returning to Yeoville Town.
Yeoville Town will play Clevedon in the second round of the Somerset Men’s Premier Cup in the first week of November.
