Zemura Swaps English Premier League For Serie A

Italian serie A side Udanese have announced the signing of Zimbabwe international left-back Jordan Zemura from AFC Bournemouth on a Free transfer.

The Italian side confirmed the news on their social media channels.

The 23-year-old rising left-back signed a four year deal and becomes the first Zimbabwean to sign with a serie A club.

He joins a growing trend of English Premier League players moving to Italy’s Serie A league that includes Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea to Inter Milan), Nemaja Matic (Manchester united to Roma) , Tammy Abrahams (Chelsea to Roma), Divock Origi (Liverpool to AC Milan) , Leo Ostigard (Brighton Hove to Napoli) , Pablo Mari (Arsenal to Monaco), Tanguy Ndombele (Tottenham to Napoli), Diego Llorento (Leeds to Roma) and Moise Keane (Everton to Juventus) just to name a few.

Zemura will replace Tottenham Hotspur bound Italian born wing-back with Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie (20), who was signed last season before being returned back at Udanese for the season.

The Warriors star will join the Serie A side in June when his contract expires at Bournemouth.

Last week Zemura was reportedly banished from the first team and was sent to train with the development squad after the team learnt of his interests to move away from Kings Park.

The Zimbabwean responded by urging the team to remain focused.

“A lot of news has circulated about my future, I would like the focus to remain with the team and them staying in the premier league. I wish them the best always and I am sure they will achieve this”, Zemura wrote on his IG post after his banishment.

He later expressed his feeling for joining the Italian top tier saying he can not wait to start.

“Separately I can not wait for this challenge and I am excited to get started”, said Zemura.

Udanese are 10th on the Serie A log table with 39 points from 29 games and are in line to play Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma on the 16 of April.
