Benyu Back In Training After Sitting Out Friday’s Session
Iceland based Zimbabwe Warriors attacking midfielder, Kundai Benyu has given Zimbabwe Warriors the boost by resuming training after missing out yesterday’s session due to a stomach bug.
There were concerns the 24-year-old technically gifted player could miss the opening match against Senegal after sitting out Friday’s training due to a stomach pain.
However, the Zimbabwe Football Associations social media pages, gave an encouraging update on Saturday ahead of facing Senegal.
“The Warriors continued preparations for the AFCON 2021 with an evening training session.
Kunda Benyu returned to full training after missing out yesterday,” read the statement
The England-born star was one of Warriors’ early arrivals in Cameroon having arrived in Yaounde the same day along with the contingent that left Harare on the 29th of December and was part of the team that played in the only friendly international against Sudan on the 2nd of January which ended in a nil all draw.
The former highly-rated Celtic youngster who already impressed coach Norman Mapeza is now in contention to face Senegal on Monday and is expected to play a big role in the absence of Khama Billiat.
Zimbabwe will take on Senegal on Monday in their opening group B match.
