Prince Dube In Contention To Return Against Kagera Sugar

Azam FC could have Prince Dube back for the meeting with Kagera Sugar on Sunday after the Zimbabwean forward returned from a long-term injury .

The 24-year-old Zimbabwean forward has been sidelined with sports hernia injury since May 2021 forcing him to miss the remainder of the season where he was the leading goalscorer with 14 goals to finish third behind winner John Bocco of Simba Sports Club who ended the season on 16 goals while his teammate, Chris Mugalu was on 15.

But the Ice-cream makers talisman has been involved in first team training since last week making himself available for Azam as they host Kagera Sugar at Azam Sports Complex in a fixture that has been postponed from Thursday to Sunday due to Tanzania’s friendly international match against Uganda on Thursday.

Dube’s return is good news for Zimbabwe Warriors who are preparing to go to the Africa Cup of nations finals in Cameroon starting in January.

The former Highlanders forward has been long touted to be Zimbabwe’s next greatest forward ever since he made his debut against Zambia in March 2017 when he was only 20.

He is one of the few Warriors to score a hattrick for the senior national team that includes Shackman Tauro (1982), Vitalis Takawira against Cameroon (1995), Gilbert Mushangazhike against Vietnam (1997), Agent Sawu vs Eritrea (1999), Peter Ndlovu vs Swaziland now Eswatini (2004) and Knowledge Musona vs Liberia (2017).

Dube scored his hattrick against Mauritius in 2019 and has gone to score eight goals for the Warriors in 11 caps.

Azam are 7th on the log with 22 Points from seven matches in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.
