Brendan Galloway Transforming Himself Into A Key Player At Argyle

Zimbabwe Warriors new-boy Brendan Galloway is slowly but surely setting himself as one of the key players at Plymouth Argyle in their title chase after another standout performance in the team’s 3-0 win at home to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Harare-born defender had a great start to his career at MK Dons becoming the English League one’s youngest first team player in 2011 when he made his debut at the age of 15 before signing a five year deal with then English Premier League Side Everton in 2014, but failed to live up to his potential due to injuries.

However, in June 2021 Galloway was handed a short term contract at Plymouth Argyle after released by Luton Town in summer due to an injury-hit two seasons at Kenilworth road.

But, in Just a short period of time Galloway seems to have flipped the script so effectively that he is now firmly established as one of the key man at Argyle in their title chase and has also layed a good foundation for his place in the Warriors squad.

Galloway who played for England at various age groups up to U21 was handed his debut for Zimbabwe Warriors in a 0-1 loss to Ghana in the world cup qualifiers on the 12th of October in Harare after switching his allegiance earlier in the year and was one of the outstanding players for Zimbabwe despite losing.

As if the ancestors are rewarding him for transferring his allegiance to Zimbabwe – his country of birth – Galloway looks like he is starting to slowly grabbing his career by the neck and refuse to let all his potential go to waste.

Plymouth Argyle’s 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday was another testimony of Galloway’s steady rise as he put on a man of the match performance plus a goal to take the team on top of the League One log table with 29 points from 14 games.

The goal is Galloway’s second of the season from the left back position in his eleven league appearances for the Pilgrims so far this season.

His manager Rayn Lowe has already expressed satisfaction with Galloway’s performances.

“I’m just pleased for Brendan of where he is at. He has been through a torrid time with injuries over the past so many years.

He is here now at Argyle playing some fantastic football doing excellent and to get that recognition (Warriors call up) on a personal level for him is really pleasing to see, ” Lowe said in a recent report.

It is just a matter of time before the left back is rewarded with a long term contract at Plymouth Argyle.

With what he has exhibited so far, if the Zimbabwean can be able to keep away from injuries for long, at 25- he still has a great chance to fulfill his potential.
