Warriors Arrived Back Home From Ghana

Zimbabwe Warriors have arrived back home ahead of their reverse leg against the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday at the National Sports stadium in a world cup qualifiers group G encounter.

Norman Mapeza and his squad touched down at the Robert Mugabe international Airport this afternoon after the arrival of the Black Stars who arrived last night.

The Warriors were without Wigan Athletic skipper, Tendayi Darikwa who flew back to the UK to attend to a family matter. The other UK-based players of Brendan Galloway, Marvelous Nakamba and man of the moment Jordan Zemura arrived with the squad after cleared to travel to Harare.

Zimbabwe has from today, Monday the 11th of October, moved out of UK’s red list countries, meaning people traveling to the UK from Zimbabwe will no longer be subjected to quarantine rules.

The Warriors will hold their only training session in Zimbabwe later on this evening.

Nyasha Munetsi who was deployed as a center back against Ghana on Saturday ahead of the tried and tested Teenage Hadebe, will also miss the reverse leg after sustaining an injury.

Nkana FC right-back Takudzwa Chimwemwe and Venda FC’s Gerald Takwara who is currently in good form in the South African Glad African Championship has been called to replace Darikwa and Munetsi.

Warriors poster boy Khama Billiat is back for the Harare tie after missing Saturday’s game in Cape Coast due to suspension. The Kaizer Chiefs winger picked up two yellow cards against Bafana Bafana and Ethiopia in September.

Zimbabwe Warriors anchor group G with only a point from three games. South Africa tops the group with seven points from as many games followed by Ghana on six points.

The game is scheduled for 3pm local time at the National Sports stadium on Tuesday.
