Mighty Warriors Fall On Goal Difference

Zimbabwe’s Senior Woman national football team where dealt a big blow after booted out of the 2021 COSAFA Woman’s Championship on a goal difference.

The Mighty Warriors who hammered Botswana 3-0 in their last group match finished second in Group B with six points from three games and were hoping to advance to the semifinals as best placed runners up.

But it was Malawi who emerged as best runners-up on goal difference after finishing second in Group A with six points.

Malawi scored a total of six goals in Group A and conceded only four goals to have a +2 goal-difference.

Zimbabwe had five goals and conceded four goals in Group B to have a +1 goal difference and Uganda who finished second in Group C were also knocked out after managing only four points from three games.

Malawi will battle it out with the hosts Banyana Banyana once again in the semifinals to be played on Thursday.

Zambia and Tanzania will also meet in another semifinal encounter earlier on the same day.

Meanwhile, Mighty Warriors will now shift their focus to the upcoming Africa cup of nations qualifiers scheduled for later on this month.
