Lunga Scores On His Sundowns Debut As They Reach MTN8 Final

Zimbabwe Warriors defender Divine Lunga made the perfect first impression after scoring on his first start for Mamelodi Sundowns in a 3-0 MTN8 semi-final win against Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old left-back who was still to make his debut for the team since his arrival in July, scored from a header in the 29th minute to double the scores for the home side after Peter Shalulile’s opener in the 4th minutes.

However the Zimbabwean defender was unfortunate not to finish the match as he was forced out after suffering a knock on the head in the 67th minutes.

The match ended 3-0 after Maema’s third goal in the 90+ minutes with Sundowns proceeding to the finals of the MTN8 on 4-1 aggregate.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns are still to confirm the extent of Lunga’s injury, but it looks he will bounce back as soon as possible.

Lunga spent the past three years at Golden Arrows, having joined them from Chicken Inn back in 2018, and managed a total of 84 appearances.

He is in the Warriors squad to play Ghana in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers group matches in October.
