Mushekwi Extends Lead As Chinese League One Top Scorer
Former Zimbabwe Warriors forward Nyasha Mushekwi extended his lead at the top of the Chinese League One Top Scorers Chart after scoring in his team’s 1-1 draw away to Jiangx Beidamen on Friday.
The 34-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns forward scored in the 88th minutes to equal the scores and earn a point for his club against Jiangxi Beidamen in the Chinese League One encounter to take his tally to 18 goals in 22 appearances.
Mushekwi has been in red hot form for Zhejiang Greentown that has seen him scoring a goal in his club’s last three matches.
Zhejiang are third on the Chinese League One table with 52 points from 24 games, three points behind log leaders Meizhou Hakka who are on 55 points after 23 games.
The top two teams gain promotion to the Chinese Super League while third and fourth head into a promotion play-offs.
Mushekwi is now four goals clear on top of the Chinese League One top scores charts and a firm favourite to win the league’s golden boot award with Nigerian international Kingsley Onuegbu trailing behind on 14 goals.
The veteran forward is now into his sixth year in the Far East having first joined Dalian Yifang in 2016 before helping them to Chinese Super League status.
He was the top goal scorer for Yifang in 3 consecutive seasons before joining Zhejiang Greentown in 2019.
