Warriors Drop Further Down In Latest Fifa Rankings
Zimbabwe Warriors have continued to decline in the FIFA rankings and currently find themselves on 113th spot in the world rankings and dropped two places to 28th in Africa.
The Warriors who began the year on 112th in the & 26 place in Africa, have been on a steady decline due to a string of poor results in Zdravko Logarusici’s tenure as head coach.
Although Zimbabwe seemed to have moved up a little after the Africa cup of nations qualifiers, they dropped back to 26th in Africa and slumped to 108th in the world after some dismal performance at the COSAFA regional tournament.
Zimbabwe slumped to five places down in the latest world rankings to 113th and two places down to 28th in Africa following a disastrous start in the Qatar 2022 World cup qualifiers in September, where the Warriors drew nil all against South Africa in Harare before losing 1-0 to Ethiopia in Badir Dar.
However, the Warriors’ lowest ranking remains in 2016 where they were 131st in the world and 41st in Africa with their highest ranking recorded in 1995 achieving position 40th in the world and 9th in Africa.
Meanwhile, Senegal still remains the highest ranked team in Africa while Belgium retained the top spot in the world.
Warriors’s World Cup opponents South Africa rise in the rankings and are now 13th in Africa and 73rd in the world, Ethiopia move up, to 28th, Ghana fall to 53rd in the world and remain 7th in Africa.
The Warriors are scheduled to play Ghana in a back to back World cup qualifiers in October.
