Warriors Announce Squad For 2021 Cosafa Cup
Zimbabwe Warriors have announced the squad for next month’s Cosafa Cup after SRC Greenlighted the resumption of football and other crucial sporting activities in Zimbabwe last Tuesday evening.
Coach Zdravko Logarusici who is hoping to use the tournament as part of preparations for the World Cup qualifiers, has picked a squad with a mixture of both foreign and local based players but predominately those that did not get enough chance in the past.
The squad is highlighted by two highly rated Warriors prospective midfield duo of US-based Nyasha Dube and Germany based Johnah Fabisch.
Both, being sons of former Warriors coaches, Nation Dube and Reinhardt Fabisch (late) a lot is expected from them in the squad.
South Africa based trio of goalie Washington Arubi, Knox Mutizwa and McClive Phiri who triumphed in the South Africa’s GladAfrica Championship with Sekhukhune have been given a chance to prove themselves together with former Supersport United forward Evans Rusike.
Washington Arubi is back in the squad after a stellar season in South Africa with Dstv premiership side Morumo Gallants former TTM.
Arubi who last played for the Warriors in 2015 had a good season for Tshakuma Tsha Madzivandila now Marumo Gallants, winning the Nedbank Cup player of the tournament award, is among the seasoned players in the Warriors squad.
Former FC Platinum defender Kevin Moyo and his Nkana teammate Jimmy Dzingai have also been included in the squad.
Zimbabwe are in Group C of the tournament, alongside Mozambique , Namibia and Senegal who are appearing as guests nation in this year’s competition.
The Warriors will Kick-start their campaign against Mozambique on the 8th of July followed by Namibia on the 11th before finishing of the group matches with a date against Africa giants Senegal on the 14th of July.
The squad will be treammed to a list of 20-players before the team departs for SA on Tuesday.
