Peter Ndlovu Quietly Enjoying Great Success At Sundowns
LEGENDARY former Zimbabwe Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu is continuing to enjoy huge success behind the scenes at Mamelodi Sundowns after clinching another league championship title with the club as the team manager .
The 49-year-old who was appointed Mamelodi Sundowns team manager in 2013 after a four year playing career with the club upon his return from a lengthy spell in England, remain one of the team’s unsung heroes after winning the 2020/21 Dstv Premiership title to increase his silverware cabinet and set him as one of the most successful team manager in the league.
Since Ndlovu’s arrival at the club as the team manager, Sundowns have lifted a total of twelve trophies including a continental championship in 2016 and the CAF super Cup in 2017.
Ndlovu has enjoyed tremendous success with Mamelodi Sundowns winning six Premierships titles, a CAF Champions League winner’s medal, CAF super Cup medal and several other domestic trophies that includes the Nedbank cup twice (2015 & 2020) and 2x Telkom Knockout trophies (2015 & 2019),
He is currently one of the best team managers in the South African top flight league having turned Sundowns into a dominant force both local and continental since he took over from Mike Ntombela at the beginning of 2013/14 season.
As the team manager Ndlovu’s duties at Mamelodi Sundowns include leading the team and overseeing all the daily operations.
The daily planning, problem solving, players’ welfare and operation of the team are some of Ndlovu’s duties at Masandawana. He ensures that the team meets the goals and levels of performance required by the club.
A lot of managers have complete control over their staff, transfers and player contracts unless, of course, they’re working under a meddling owner.
The manager takes off budden from the head coach who is merely tasked to concentrate on training and picking the team.
