Kadewere Out Of Afcon Qualifiers
Zimbabwe Warriors have been dealt a fresh blow ahead of their crucial Afcon qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia on the 25th and 29th March respectively after the latest withdrawal of Lyon hot shot Tinotenda Kadewere from the squad.
The 25-year-old forward’s club Lyon dropped the bombshell on Friday after writing to ZIFA indicating that the star striker would not be available for the upcoming Afcon qualifiers due to latest Covid-19 restrictions in France where a player would be subjected to a week’s quarantine on return.
The French regulations stipulate that anyone entering the country from outside Europe must self-isolate for seven days on arrival and present a negative Covid-19 test at the end of that period.
Lyon are not comfortable with the latest quarantine rules as they could miss their star forward for a game or two if he travel for the Afcon qualifiers.
Kadewere becomes the latest Warriors key player to be affected by the Covid-19 restrictions after UK-Based stars of Marvelous Nakamba, Tendayi Darikwa, David Moyo, Admiral Muskwe and new boy Brendan Galloway.
Bournemouth’s Jordan Zemura is still waiting to hear feedback from his club to know whether he would be able to travel for the crucial games.
Meanwhile coach Zdravko Logarusic arrived in the country on Wednesday after acquiring his work permit.
