Boost For Warriors As Musona Returns From Injury

KAS Eupen star midfielder Knowledge Musona has handed Zimbabwe Warriors a huge boost after fully recovering from injury ahead of important Afcon qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia on the 25th and 29th of March respectively.

The 30-year-old who has been out for more than a month with an ankle injury is in contention for a starting place after Included in the squad to face Sint Truidense on Sunday night.

Musona sustained an ankle knock during KAS Eupen’s 4-1 defeat to Genk on the 6th of January 2021 and was taken off just after the half-hour mark. He has so far missed seven games through the injury.

Musona has featured in 18 out of the team’s 28 league matches and has scored four goals and provided two assists so far this season for KAS Eupen. They are on 14th position with 33 points.

The Warriors are set to play Botswana away on March 25th before wrapping up the qualifying campaign against Zambia on the 29th of March at home.

Musona has been an integral part for the Warriors’ campaign for their fourth appearance at the Africa’s biggest competition after making 4 appearances 1 goal and three assists.

The Warriors are second in group H with five points from four games and a win against Botswana and Zambia losing against Algeria will see them joining log leaders Algeria who have already booked their ticket to the finals in Cameroon.

The news of Musona’s recovery comes as a big boost for coach Loga whose is at risk of missing several key players due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Marvelous Nakamba, Tendayi Darikwa, Admiral Muskwe, Jordan Zemura, David Moyo and new boy Brendan Galloway could be affected as UK placed Zimbabwe as one of the country’s high risk areas.

Another key player Khama Billiat is nursing an injury and his availability is still in doubt.

Meanwhile, coach Zdravko Logarusic is still holed up in his country Croatia, waiting for the renewal of his work permit.
