Madhananga Getting His Groove Back At TTM

Former FC Platinum star midfielder Farai Edwin Madhananga seems to have got his career up and running once again after a slow start in the Dstv Premiership.

The 26-year-old who signed for Bidvest Wits from FC Platinum in July 2019 after an impressive season with the platinum miners – helping them to their second consecutive premiere soccer league title and a first CAF Champions league group stage appearance, has been struggling to get game time ever since he moved down South.

The highly rated midfielder was yet to make an official first team appearance for Wits when they sold their franchise to Glad Africa Championship side, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) in June 2020.

Madanhanga spent the whole of 2019/20 season on the sidelines after failing to break into Gavin Hunt’s first eleven and things turned from bad to worse in 2020 with the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“In 2019 I didn’t get game time, but in 2020 the pandemic disturbed my plans since I have been working very hard to earn the first eleven jersey,” Madanhanga said.

However, Madhananga’s fortunes took a turn for the better after the arrival of Maltese born and former Leeds United player Dylan Kerr as the new head coach at the Limpopo based side in February 2021.

The Zimbabwean was handed his first premier league start on 12 February 2021 in a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United. Ever since then, Madhananga has been a regular in the starting eleven – solidifying his place with spectacular performances for Tshakuma.

He has so far started in all six games for the team, including two Nedbank cup matches and four league games plus a goal to his name.

Tshakuma have only lost once since the introduction of Madhananga to the starting eleven, winning three and drawing twice.

They have so far moved out of the drop zone, and now occupy the 14th position on the log standings with 16 points from 18 games.

Tshakhuma have also made it through to the Nedbank cup semi-finals after beating Ovidy Karuru’s Black Leopards 0-2 in the quarter final with Madhananga playing 70 minutes after starting the match.

Warriors goalkeeper Washington Arubi who also featured in the match against Leopards, is another Zimbabwe international doing well at Tshakuma having kept three clean sheets in the last six games.

They will play winner between Orlando Pirates versus Mamelodi Sundowns for a place in the Nedbank Cup final.
