Kadewere Responds To Karim Benzema After Club Legend Sends Message
Man of the moment Tinotenda Kadewere couldn’t hide his excitement after receiving a message from one of his admirers and Lyon club legend Karim Benzema.
The 25-year-old Zimbabwe hot shot was shown the message from the Real Madrid star’s twitter account during a post-match interview with a French television, encouraging him and the team ahead of Lyon’s derby encounter against St Etienne on Sunday.
Benzema wrote, ‘Lyonnais tonight you can make whole city proud and happy. We are all behind you, and Tino keep making your dreams come true’
Kadewere who went on to score a brace in the team’s 5-0 derby victory against St Etienne said he did not see the tweet before the game, but was happy to receive a message from the club legend.
“I’m sure if I had seen this before the game, I was probably going to score more goals because getting a tweet from such a big player and someone I look up to really gives me motivation,” said Kadewere
“I’m really happy that one of the strikers that made me sign for Lyon is following my progress and happy with what I am doing. That gives me confidence.”
I really want to thank him for the belief and support,” said Kadewere.
Benzema joined Real Madrid from Olympic Lyon in 2009 after scoring 66 goals and 23 assists in 148 appearances for the French Ligue1 side and had scored most of his goals in derby matches against St Etienne.
He went on to score 257 goals and 138 assists for Real Madrid. He is one of the all time Champions league goal Scorer having scored 12 goals for Lyon and 52 for Real Madrid.
Meanwhile Kadewere is now one of the highest performing player in Ligue1 after his Brace, with a rate of 6.07 over 10 according to L’Equipe.
