Tawanda Chirewa Begins Light Training
Tawanda Chirewa has started light training as he steps up his recovery from a thigh injury he suffered at the beginning of October.
The 20-year-old midfielder played through with an injury in Derby County’s match against Norwich at the beginning of October.
After an assessment, Derby County confirmed that the attacking midfielder had suffered a thigh muscle injury and that he would be out of action for four to eight weeks.
Chirewa has been unfortunate at Derby County where he was expected to play regularly as the number 10, but injuries have denied him from showcasing his talents featuring in only two of the possible seven championship matches he could have played had he been fit.
Before suffering a thigh muscle injury, the Zimbabwean had a concussion on national duty in September that disturbed his good start at Derby where he joined in August on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Returning to the pitch after a frustrating time away is good news for a Chirewa who took to his official social media to share the news of his recovery
“Finally!” Chirewa wrote on his IG- posting along with a photo of him doing light training with the ball.
His return will give him enough chance to showcase his talents before the end of his loan spell at Derby County, but he will again miss Zimbabwe’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.
