Mahachi Finds Glory In Ghana
The year 2022 has been a tough year for former SuperSport united and Zimbabwe Warriors winger Kudakwashe Mahachi who has been without a club since his release at SuperSport United in May 2022.
Mahachi (29) was outrageously accused of attempting to murder his four-year-old son in the middle of marital woes against his ex-wife.
He was first suspended and then let go by the Pretoria-based club as he sought to prove his innocence, and has been clubless since.
But, as the legendary rap King Tupac Shakur once said, ‘through every dark night there is a brighter day after that. No matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep your head up and handle it.’ Mahachi did exactly as that and was acquitted of the charges.
The deminutive winger won the hearts of current Ghana Champions Medeama F. C and on August 18 2023, he was given a one year contract with an option to renew.
And on Sunday Mahachi who became the first Zimbabwean player to sign for a club in the Ghana premier league, lifted his first silverware at the club after Medeama’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dreams F. C.
Although the Zimbabwean midfielder was not part of the match day squad due to his pending clearance, it was good to see the troubled star smiling again as Medeama clinched the first trophy of the season thanks to new boy Jonathan Sowah’s brace at the Cape Coast stadium.
The Ghana Super Cup is played between Champions of the Ghana premier league and the winners of the Ghanaian FA Cup to usher into the new football season.
It is Medeama F. C’s second Super Cup title having won their first in 2015.
Mahachi will be looking to make his official debut for Medeama F. C on the weekend of 15 September as the Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season begins.
