Jonah Fabisch Hit The Ground Running At Magdeburg

Jonah Fabisch has wasted no time settling in at Germany Bundasliga two side F. C Magdeburg since his arrival from another second tier outfit Hamburger SV in June 2023.

The 22-year-old, son of the late former Zimbabwe Warriors ‘Dream team’ coach Reinhard Fabisch and Zimbabwe athlete & Olympic medalist Chawada Kachidza, made a roaring start to life at Magdeburg II side, scoring four goals plus one assist in his first five Oberliga matches to help his side to a 12 points haul from a possible 15 points.

The Kenyan-born central midfielder scored his first goal on his debut in a 3-1 victory against Ludwigsfelde. He followed up his debut goal with another sweet strike in 1-4 win away to 1921 Krischow F. C before scoring a brace in his third Oberliga encounter as F. C Magdeburg II win 2-4 away to Halle.

Fabisch who made his Zimbabwe Warriors debut in a world cup qualifier against Ethiopia in 2022, was handed a two year contract at FC Magdeburg after arriving as a free agent from his boyhood club Hamburger SV and is regarded highly at his new home.

The Zimbabwean scored 11 goals in 35 matches for Hamburger SV II in the Regionaliga last season and could score more goals for Magdeburg if his current form is anything to go by.

Fabisch made a step up from the fourth tier to playing in the second tier with Magdeburg and is hoping to continue his development at the club.
