Zimbabwean Teen Trey Nyoni Scores On England U16s Debut

English-born Zimbabwean teen, Trey Maurice Nyoni scored on his England U16s debut as the young three lions edged Italy 2-3 in a friendly match on Thursday. 

The 15-year-old Leicester City midfielder who can also play as a winger got his first start in the U16s’ second encounter against Italy, and made sure he left a mark on his debut after scoring the team’s second goal in their 3-2 win over the young Azzurri side.

The young three lions took revenge after suffering a 2-1 loss in their opening friendly match against Italy on Tuesday where compatriots David Chigwada and Shumaira Mheuka featured with the latter’s two goals chalked for offside.

England’s other goals in the final match came from Tottenham Hotspurs’ Mikey Moore and Chelsea forward Frankie Runham who scored the opening and winning goal respectively to register a win in Italy.

Nyoni is one of the most highly rated teens at Leicester City where he plays for the U16s but also a regular feature for the U18s level. His style and pace is likened to Brazil and PSG star Neymar junior. He has represented England U16s as well.

He is born to Zimbabwean parents, making him eligible for the Warriors in future.
