SA-Based Zimbabwe Legends To ‘Host’ The Warriors On Their Arrival In Johannesburg Today
Recently formed Zimbabwe Warriors legends organisation based in South Africa will be responsible for the welfare of the Zimbabwe national team on their arrival in that country on Sunday ahead of the first 2026 CAF World Cup qualifiers encounter against Lesotho at Orlando Stadium on the 7th of June.
The organization which was formed in February this year to cater for Zimbabwe footballers welfare in South Africa, is Chaired by former Warriors defensive midfielder and legend Alexander Maseko – will ferry the team from the airport to the hotel where they have booked dinner for the team before they begin training at Orlando Stadium later today.
“As the South Africa-based Zimbabwe Footballers Association, we have organised ourselves, partnering with different entities, and put together a bus to shuttle the team during their stay here,” said Maseko speaking to the Zimpapers Sports Hub
“All we want to do is ease pressure on our team. We have different Zimbabwean-owned companies and fans in support of the initiative.
“The embassy is also well in support and we are very happy. We will try to drum up support for the team and make the match at Orlando Stadium look very much homely.”
The Zimbabwe Legends organisation is mainly sponsored by Zororo-Phumlani funeral company who are going to provide a bus for the team to use during their stay in South Africa.
All the locally based Warriors including the technical stuff will arrive at Or Tambo Airport this morning, alongside Teenage Hadebe and Jordan Zemura who landed in Zimbabwe earlier in the week, to meet up with all foreign based players who have already started trickling in direct from their bases.
After Lesotho game, the Warriors will travel to Bloemfontein for their next group C encounter against the host Bafana-Bafana at Free State Stadium on the 11th of June to complete the double assignment.
