Kanyai Caps Another Brilliant Season In Australia
Austrilia based and Zimbabwe Mighty Warriors prospect Yolanda Kanyai completed another outstanding season in Australia Northern Territory Women’s premier league after helping Port Darwin to a fourth finish and a place in the grand finals.
The 25-year-old former Vainona High student scored 8 goals from 15 matches for Port Darwin this season and have also assisted six times finishing the regular season as the club’s top goal scorer and bagged her second end of season award in a row with different clubs.
Last season Kanyai won Coaches’ Player of the season award with Casuarina after a brilliant season.
Port Darwin who finished in the top four on the log for the first time in many years will square off against Mindil Aces on the 25th of September for a place in the finals.
The winners in the finals will be crowned Northern Territory Women’s premier league champions.
Kanyai was also selected to represent Northern Territory in the all-star ‘indigenous Nationals tournament’ in November – one of the biggest tournaments in the country where select teams from the whole of Australia compete for the national cup.
The Zimbabwean has been in the all-star team for several times already during her six year period in Australia.
