Zim-Eligible Teen Off To A Cracking Start At Wolves

English-born Zimbabwe teenage forward Leon Chiwome had a cracking start to his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers after scoring his first goal for the U18s in their opening English U18 Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The 16-year-old striker who joined Wolves from AFC Wimbledon at the beginning of July, needed just four minutes to open his account after handed a starting berth as the team got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 0-1 win away to Rovers.

Chiwome has been on a quick rise to the top having came from non-professional teams such as Sussex Schools FA and Alford F.C, before signing for his first professional club – League two side, AFC Wimbledon in 2021.

The talented forward who also has been on trials at Brighton Hove, stayed at AFC Wimbledon for only one season and was enough to convince the Premier League side Wolves who came to sign him for an undisclosed fee on the 2nd of July 2022.

Chiwome is born to a British mother and a Zimbabwean father making him eligible for both England and Zimbabwe at international level.
