Gerald Takwara Joins Saudi Arabian Outfit

Former Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) and Zimbabwe Warriors defender Gerald Takwara has joined Saudi Arabian division one outfit Ohod F.C from South Africa’s National First Division side Venda F.C

The 27-year-old full back who impressed in Zimbabwe Warriors’ AFCON 2021 campaign was unveiled on Tuesday after completing a lucrative deal to the Medinah based club.

The former Tsholotsho F.C was in the books of Ajax Cape Town in 2018 before he left the club after it was relagated and returned home to join Castle larger premiership side, Ngezi Platinum in 2019/20 season.

Takwara went back to South Africa in 2021/22 season, this time with First Division side Venda F.C where he made 29 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions last season.

He was one of the few players who showed up during Zimbabwe’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign early this year in Cameroon, and was awarded the man of the match gong for his performances in Zimbabwe’s 2-1 win over Guinea.

Ohod F.C competes in the Saudi Arabian first division where they finished 6th on the log last season and have been promoted to the Saudi Arabian top tier three times already.

Takwara joins former Warriors midfieder Ovidy Karuru who is at Al Shoala F. C in the same division and Knowledge Musona who is at Al Tai in Saudi Arabian professional league.
