Yolanda Kanyai Wins End Of The Season Award In Australia.

Australia-based Zimbabwe international Yolanda Kanyai walked away with the coaches’ Player of the season award at NT Yappas awards ceremony held over the weekend.

The 24-year-old Kanyai has enjoyed another superb campaign in Australian Northern Territory Women’s Premier League with NT Yappas ever since she joined the club from rivals Casuarina in June 2021.

Kanyai who was crowned in absentia has been consistent in the NT Yappas line up as a midfielder having switched from her ordinary striking position.

The former Vainona high school player has been impressive in the midfield featuring in 13 matches for NT Yappas registering a goal and provided a couple of assist as she helped the team to a fourth finish on the log.

The award is given to an enthusiastic player, the most hardworking and influential player in the team.

Kanyai has been exemplary at NT Yappas maintaining his work rate and contribution despite playing in a new role which is usually difficult to adjust considering she was coming from a striking position.

The Zimbabwean international moved to Australia in 2016 on a scholarship and has been in the books of Casuarina where she has made a name for herself as one of the league’s top strikers after scooping two golden boot awards in her first two seasons.

She is the only second Zimbabwean woman playing her football outside of the continent after Emmaculate Msipa of Joventut in Spain.
