Newly Re-named SA Premier League Side Morumo Gallants Wants Arubi To Stay
Newly re-named DSTV premiership side Morumo Gallants, former Tshakhuma Tsha Mazivhandila are eager to hold on to their star goalkeeper Washington Arubi for the coming season.
The 35-year-old former Zimbabwe Warriors goalie’s contract with the team is expiring this month and is yet to receive offers of a new contract from the club.
However, the newly re-named Dstv premiership side have indicated their desire to return Arubi who has been outstanding in the previous season helping them to win the Nedbank cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Speaking to Marawa show on SA radio 2000, the club chairman Mr. Abram Sello admitted they are in the process of reaching out to the players agent in trying to negotiate a new contract for the shot-stopper.
Responding to a question on what will happen to senior players whose contracts are coming to an end this season, Sello replied that all players who did well for the club will be given preference to renew their contracts despite age.
“We have already put offers on the table for senior players who did well for the club in the previous season,” he said
Meanwhile Arubi’s camp confirmed they haven’t received anything yet from the club, but are not worried.
“We as M sport Management his management company we haven’t received anything yet in my office -but we are not panicking at all -also remember the club has been busy with name changing etc , but what I can tell you is they is some activity going on,” Michael Ngobeni from M sport management confirmed.
The inform goalie is believed to be flooded with offers from other clubs after an impressive season with Tshakhuma where he helped them turn things around in the second quarter after a poor start in the DSTV premiership – keeping a total of 10 clean sheets in 28 matches as they finish on a commandable 12th position on the log.
“We have two more clubs already enquired about his availability , but unfortunately i can’t mention them yet because I can jeopardize the progress,” said Ngobeni
“We are standing well his value is up £12.50m on transfer market -he is the talk of the town,” he adds
It remains to be seen where Arubi’s future lay, but Marumo Gallants remains his first preference.
Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) officially changed their name to Marumo Gallants FC. The new look club was unveiled at a press conference in Johannesburg last week, Thursday.
