Shumaira Mheuka Keeps Shinning For England
England MU17s international and Zimbabwe Warriors hopeful Shumaira Mheuka was once again in incridible form as the Young Lions finished as runners-up in the Costa Cálida Supercup tournament played at Pinatar Arena in Spain over the past week.
The 16-year-old Chelsea U17s forward registered his first goal of the competition in a thrilling 3-2 loss to Portugal on Saturday before scoring his second goal in his second start against host Spain on Tuesday to finish the tournament on second position with four points behind champions Portugal who won all their matches before crowned champions.
England’s MU17s team drew 1-1 in their other match against Morocco to finish the competition with one win, one draw and one loss.
In April the talented former Brighton Hove juniors forward helped England Mu16s win the Mondial Montaigne tournament in France after scoring two goals plus assist in three matches as Young Lions finished on nine points to lift the cup.
Mheuka has now scored eight official goals for England youth teams since his first international debut with the U16s, where he scored two goals in a 5-0 win against Chile in April 2022.
The talented forward who is still open to represent Zimbabwe at senior level will be looking to build on where he left off as the Young Lions prepare for their UEFA U17 EURO first qualifying round in November, when they play Croatia, Faroe Islands and Kosovo in Croatia.
